[epub] Another TOTD
While we are still on the subject of 'Clickable' links, here's an add on to
the discussion:

I have seen a lot of people in this forum posting a message with:

1. No signature at all,
2. Not even a link to their web site
3. Absolutely no contact information, or
4. a signature, but with 'UnClickable' links

Here's a Tip for those of you who are, IMHO, making a *big big* mistake, if
you are doing any of the above.

Here's one reason why :

Whenever I read a post that makes sense to me or interests me, I would want
to visit that person's web site to learn more about the person (or
product). So, at the end of the person's post, I look for a link to click on.

And in many cases, there is none, there is one but can't be clicked (and I
would have to cut-n-paste into my browser - so you lost my interest, and a
visitor already!) or I would have to decipher the domain name from the
person's email address (if they have sent it from person@theirdomain.com
instead of person@hotmail.com) and paste it into my browser - frankly,
that's asking for too much!

Signatures are SO important, that many smart Internet marketers look for a
valid excuse to post to a forum, just so that their signature will be read!

In a future post, I will tell you how you can sell *using just your
signature* (they don't even have to visit your web site for you to make a
sale!).

In this post, I will not get into *why* signatures are so important, but I
will tell you how to make sure that you do it right!

<< Mistakes to avoid when creating a Signature >>
Sub-Tip 1:
CyberConneXions.com - wrong (most email clients won't show this as a
'clickable' link)
www.CyberConneXions.com - wrong (older email clients won't show this as a link)
http://www.CyberConneXions.com - RIGHT!!

Sub-Tip 2:
http://www.babynamesindia.com - wrong
http://www.Babynamesindia.com - wrong
http://www.BabyNamesIndia.com - RIGHT

Note in the above example, how the case makes a difference to the link's
readability.

Sub-Tip 3:
When you include your email address in an email :
Ravi@BabyNamesIndia.com - wrong (most email clients won't show this as a
'clickable' link)
mailto:Ravi@BabyNamesIndia.com - RIGHT!

Notice how adding a 'mailto:' in front of your email address makes it
clickable - go ahead, try clicking it - it will open a 'new message
compose box' with my email address already in it.

I have used all these techniques in my signature at the end of this post.
Take a look.
