[epub] Tip of the Day : Value your subscribers' time :-)
<< Tip of the Day : Value your subscriber's time! >>

Dr. Mani just set up a topic for my unsolicited tip of the day ;-)

Dr. Mani writes:
>... I'm perfectly willing to try and make all my
>ezine links clickable on all email programs - IF I know,
>for a fact, that it is a big deal for readers.

No offense, but in spite of all the different kinds of explanations given
by the list members, Dr. Mani still doesn't accept (or understand?) as to
why, if at all you have links in your ezine, you need to make them clickable!

>I believe in distinguishing an ezine (which is an emailed newsletter)
>from a Webzine (which is a Web-based newsletter).

The point is, whether its a ezine or a webzine (personally, I don't see
much of a difference), if there's a link, its gotta be clickable!

> Is there any particular reason why you prefer clicking on the link
>directly, instead of doing a cut-and-paste from a text file?

I cannot imagine why Mani would think anyone wants to put in that extra
effort, just because he doesn't want to add a 'http://' to his links!!

>Your point is well taken. It is a *little* more difficult
>to cut-and-paste as against clicking on links directly, but
>not very.

It is really hard for me to believe anyone being this fixated on making the
life of there readers difficult, however *little* it may be!

I don't know about others, but in my eyes, Dr. Mani just lost all his
credibility as an *e-marketer*. Sorry!

Am I ever going to visit his site?
      I doubt it.

Am I ever going to buy his product or subscribe to his newsletter?
      No way!

Nothing personal. I know Mani may not care about my not buying his product
or service. I'm only trying to think from a subscriber's point of view.

The point I'm trying to make here is, when I know that someone has no value
for my time, why would I buy from them?

Which brings me to my Tip of the Day : << Value your customer's (or
subscriber's) time! >>

Regards,

Ravi Jayagopal
