We used to email our ezine with both options: reading on line
or reading HTML at our site. Now we just offer the on-line HTML version.
According to our tracking, most people are going to the site. It is hard
to tell who was reading the email version and who was just ignoring or
deleting it.

But I am happy with the numbers and I think people appreciate the extra
work involved in the HTML version. It seems to work out better that way.

The HTML version allows us to stand out from the crowd. I actually started
doing the HTML version only because a few ezines I subscribed to did that.
They would have a link to the ezine in the email announcing their latest 
edition
and you would have to click the link to read it.

I think the color and diagrams and extras help people who are serious about
marketing, we just did a story on menu advertising and were able to show
exactly what we mean by showing the menu and the ad placement.

As for our travel ezine, the pictures only help. A travel publication without
colorful pictures is lacking something.

What do you think? I don't think it takes long to download and I don't think
it is obtrusive.
