::SCW> If somehow TheBigGreyWolf's computer sent "message.html" to me as
::SCW> a reader, I would think to myself that TheBigGreyWolf has a virus
::SCW> and has sent a virus to all of his readers.
::
::In this case - yes. But not if they are always sending you the
::"message.html" attachment with the e-zine in it!

I do agree with you there. This is also a good reason for using a serial
naming system (Issue1.html, Issue2.html, etc. or 20010830.html,
20010831.html, 20010901.html, etc). You know, something less generic than
"message.html."

::SCW> I disagree. Paid or free, accidents (and disasters) happen.
::SCW> Things go wrong. Computers get infected with viruses. E-mails get
::SCW> sent with virus-infected HTML attachments. (Or any type of
::SCW> virus-infectable attachment for that matter...)
::
::But this is were I have to stop you. :) Disasters do happen, but in a
::slightly different way. List hosters are a great deal different from
::Outlook e-mail clients, they do not store you addresses in the address
::book and they don't start mailing viruses around as soon as they get
::infected. It has to be a hell-of-a-virus to hack a system like that
::and it has to be specifically created for this very mailing system.
::You will have to give an example to make me believe in the possibility
::of such things.

To be honest, I wasn't even thinking about list servers! I have "epub" in
my address book. *IF* this were an unmoderated list and *IF* I got a virus
which would send a virus-infected HTML file to all of my contacts, then it
would be possible. (Which is a good reason to have moderated lists.)

E-gards,
