[epub] Re: Ezine Subscriptions

I actually want my ezines read and prefer readers who want
to subscribe and enjoy the ezines.

Same here, which is why a few months ago I went to single opt-in for
subbing and unsubbing.  Unsubbing is now as simple as one email.  No
more confirms to overlook or claim got lost.

I used to be a huge proponent of double opt-in, but it was a big pain in
the rear for me with the multitude of people incapable of reading a
message and hitting reply to unsub.  And I had huge numbers of people
who couldn't reply to subscribe confirmation requests for some reason
and even if they replied, at least 1/3 replied improperly (deleting the
confirmation number in the subject line, using a different addy to
reply, etc.)

I've had to lower my standards for subs and unsubs but unfortunately
Internet users (namely those who use the largest ISP - the one that
brags how simple they are to use) STILL don't understand how to just
send an email to an unsub addy.  I get at least 5-10 requests from
subscribers using this ISP each week and I've given up giving them
directions and instead send a form letter stating unsubbing instructions
are on the bottom of each issue (stated at the top of each issue to look
at the bottom) or they can refer to the FAQ on my webpage.
