Hi Maria,

I have used several different cgi scripts for mailing list
processing. The scripts themselves work fine. The problem
can occur with your hosting service and/or your ISP who
might put limits on the number of emails you may send
out at one time. This can cause the script to time out
and your list may not go out completely. I did an article

Also, you need to watch with whatever mode that you are
using to mail your list, whether you are getting any bounces
back. This is normal since addresses become invalid, people
change addresses, discontinue them etc. If the system you
are using is not bouncing these back to you as undeliverables
then you might have a problem with dead addresses building
up in your list base. Ideally, software like Lyris takes care of that
buy automatically putting bounces into a hold file where you
can decide what to do with them. But if you are using other
listservers, cgi scripts or autoresponders to mail your list and
you never receive bounced emails, then you could have
a problem.
