It is possible, using a bit of HTML, to track
who's opening your email.

You can do it by embedding a free counter
(thecounter.com, hitbox.com) or if you're
serving ads, then you can use IMG tags that
refer to 1x1-pixel images to track the number
of times the ad was served, which tells you
how many times your email was opened.

So it's easy for HTML-Ezine publishers, but
for those sending out text newsletters, it
is impossible to know the 'impressions' served,
or in other words, how many times your email
was viewed (or opened).

You can, however track how many times your newsletter
links were clicked by your subscribers, by using
free link tracking tools, like Click tracker at
http://www.CyberConneXions.com/ct

In fact, by tracking all url's of each edition of
your newsletter, you can further track how many times
each link in each edition (even if they're the same,
for ex. to your home page) was clicked by your subscriber.

Then you can monitor positioning - like how many times
the link to your home page (or ad) is clicked if placed
at the top of your newsletter, and how many times if it's
moved further down.
