[epub] RE: Subscriber activity

I just "opened" a half dozen html newsletters - for a split
second just before they went flying off to the delete bin.

"Open rates" are a nonsense statistic used by publishers 
and brokers to create an unverifiable perception of value. 

Unless/until you can measure the length of time the 
email actually remains open, the "open rate" actually 
tells you next to nothing.

Adam Boettiger hit it right on the head:
