Hi

I'm not trying to keep harping on the issue of double opt-in
here again, but this is one of the areas where a double opt-
in technique can help.

When your new *subscriber* signs up using the email
address you've listed - on websites, your ezine and
elsewhere - the mail goes to an autoresponder that
asks them to *confirm* that subscription by replying
to *another* address.

When a spambot or harvesting program gathers your
sign-up address, therefore, and sells it, all the
spam that is sent to that address will be tackled by
an autoresponder.  The spammers message will neither
reach your list, if you run an unmoderated discussion
group, or trouble you as an ezine administrator -
until the recipient replies to your *confirm* address.
