Dr Mani,

I did not and do not perceive your message (about your experience being
branded so to speak as a spammer) as a spam message.

To me it was someone who was excited about his/her work, and sharing
what you felt to be a hurtful experience.

I'm not a football or sports fan. Yet every week someone who is a fan
of some sports team "bounces" up to me to tell me in great detail about
how excited they are about last night's game.

I've got a great comeback line for the football fans - "Now lets see,
that's the game with the ball with the long pointed ends right?" It
stops them dead in their tracks almost every time and I don't have to
listen any further or participate in the play by play recap which I
don't care to participate in.

As a list member here, I have no problems with your message. You were
an enthusiastic fan (of an ebook) and shared your sadness at last
night's game performance (being labeled a spammer). It was entirely
relevant, you did not dump (spam) on me (the list) a play by play
(chapter by chapter) recap of the game (book) ...

If you are a football fan and want to tell me that you are having a
great day today because you are excited about the fact that your team
won last night; I can be excited about how YOU are feeling TODAY. If
you are having a bad day because you are a little down because of how
your team played last night; I can be symphathetic about how you feel
today. Am I going to share (or even care) about the details of the game
last night? Not a pray of a chance.

Somewhere in there, there is a line that distinguishes a boundary of
what kind of relationship two people (or a group) have. In a group like
this, you have every right to talk to me about what kind of experiences
you are having with your E-Publication. In *most* cases, I don't think
a chapter by chapter analysis of your book would be appropriate.
However, in my opinion, your messages about How *not* to promote your
e-publication were right on track and perfectly appropriate. And in
fact, valued and appreciated by me.

Of course, that's just my opinion.
