I would have to agree with you. I've never used SpamCop for that very
reason. Speaking as a Brit <g> I'm very much in favor of  the premise of
'innocent until proven guilty'. I always thought it was a basic right over
here in the US too.

I don't think that's the same - if you followed that argument logically then
surely you could argue that we should hold PC manufacturers responsible for
people abusing the use of their computer by sending spam. Clearly that would
be ridiculous.

What isn't ridiculous (IMHO) is the idea of holding providers of free email
services responsible for abuse of their systems by spammers. Or affiliate
program managers kicking out affiliates who promote their programs using
spam. Most decent affiliate programs include a 'no-spamming' clause in their
terms, but judging from my inbox not that many seem to enforce it.

Incidentally, would I be correct in thinking that if SpamCop were in law
enforcement, I could give them a call anonymously today and tell them that
Bob Cortez was driving under the influence yesterday, and they would just
take my word for it and come round and take your license away from you?

Just a thought.
