EPUB Archives [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread][epub] RE: syndication suggestions
>Merle uses willmasters script... so if it works how you want >it for willmaster why is it working different for merle? Well, the difference is in the article. Will B. of willmaster.com also syndicates his articles ( which is what I "found"... not his script ), but in his articles he specifies all links to open as _blank. Merle's articles probably have no target specified and open in whatever frame, iframe, or window they are clicked in as the default. >Don't understand the difference between _blank (which makes >the link open in a new window and _new which I've never >heard of? First, for those not in the know... when coding an anchor ( AKA link ) you may specify a target. Such as this: a href="http://www.swap-ezine-ads.com/" target="_blank" a href="http://www.zaptacular.com/" target="_new" I left out the HTML delimiters > < for clarity across all email clients and it will not work in this email, but that is how you specify anchor targets in HTML. http://www.w3schools.com/html/attr_a.asp will provide more info on the 4 standard target attributes. ( _blank _self _parent _top ) While 4 standard attributes exist and serve certain purposes, you can target your anchor with any alpha-numeric character combination. Such as this: a href="http://www.zaptacular.com/" target="michaels_window" It essentially tells the browser to open a new window named "michaels_window". Okay, back to what Tina said... I don't know if it is mis-information or old browser differences or what, but there seem to be a bunch of people out there who think _new is a target attribute that acts the same as _blank. Which is why Tina has probably never heard of it. _new is *not* a target attribute as far as any current documentation says and it ends up behaving the same way as if you had named an anchor target "michaels_window"... The first linked clicked will load in "_new" and any subsequent links clicked ( targeted to "_new" ) will load in the same browser window because it has been *named* "_new". As opposed to _blank which serves the specific purpose of opening links in new windows and any link clicked ( targeted to "_blank" ) will load in it's own new window. That is the difference between _blank and _new. I hope that clears it up for everyone. Sorry if I confused any of you. :) Regards, Michael FREE - Dynamic Subscription Plus - Automate Your Joint Ventures. http://www.zaptacular.com/ezine_and_newsletter_network/index.htm !NEW!
