Janie and Ross,

There has been so much talk in the newspaper and other media sources,
that most people to day at least have some clue about the Blaster and
SoBig viruses. The message has been clear, "If you have a computer, you
need to have antivirus protection, it must be up-to-date and you should
do virus scans of incoming emails as well as all your computer drives.
Do it now."

If someone gets either of these viruses now, it is really their own
fault because they aren't following good computer usage and protection
practices.

These viruses are designed to send the virus to everyone in the infected
computer's email address book using an email address it has grabbed off
that computer. It can also be "harvested" off your website, in
discussion lists, etc., by "robots." If someone gets one of these
viruses from "you," they can be pretty sure it didn't come from you.

If you are still concerned, however, here's what I think you should do.
Send an email to all of your customers and prospects that explains the
nature of the virus. Tell them that you received email messages that
were sent using your address, which means POSSIBLY that someone you know
or who has your email address in their address book has the virus. Ask
them to update their virus protection and do a virus scan to make sure
they do not have the virus on their computer. This way, you have done
two things: (1) notified everyone that the virus did not come from you
and (2) performed a good deed by telling folks how to detect and correct
the problem.
