[epub] List format change READ

Hello, epubbers:

Now that I've heard from a number of you off-list (and on), I'm going to 
make a policy statement for the list.

Please make sure you comply. If you don't, I will have to remove your 
membership, because we certainly have discussed this often enough, and 
because I want the focus to return to email publishing, NOT list issues. 
There's a lot to talk about.

As of today, I have changed the list setting to return it to the old 
format, in which the name you see in the "from" line is the poster's name, 
not the list address. Having done that at many members' request, I am also 
now enforcing the policy tfor people using challenge-response spam-blocking 
systems. If you have questions about this or disagree vehemently, please 
email me off-list.

If you use this kind of service, which relies on address books or contact 
lists to allow or quarantine email, you must either whitelist as many 
addresses as possible -- begin with epub@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and then 
go through your archives -- or else use a different address, one that does 
not go through your spam-blocker, to correspond with the list. If you 
don't, and if members complain about receiving a request to verify their 
addresses from your service, I'll remove your subscription.

Members: If you receive an address-verification request and you don't want 
to reply to it, forward it to me. Please don't complain to the list. We've 
had enough metaposts for a while.

What new topics can we argue about?

1. Are you seeing a decline in new-subscription tequests or ROI because of 
the latest round of email viruses?

2. Will RSS kill email publishing?

3. What effective new methods have you used either to reduce your turnover 
rate or find new subscribers?
