[epub] How to start?

Maybe this theme has been discused many times over and since I am new to 
the online biz part.. might as well not be shy and ask. Please excuse me 
those that have been doing this for awhile 

but,

How do we start? Now, after the online situation have gone through some 
reformation in a sense that what worked three to five years ago does not 
work now... so, what do I do?
