[epub] Re: ezine relaunch
Hi, Everyone ...

Once again I thank you all for your valued feedback about relaunching my
ezine. I also appreciated Janet's perspective of addressing my concern/
question from a different angle. (Which in some ways as me more confused
than ever about the best direction :)).

After contemplating everyone's viewpoints, I have decided to take a sample
of my subscriber list and take a similar approach suggested by David
(modeled after another relaunched ezine). So I will not ask them to re-opt
in, but will mention give instructions upfront for anyone who wants to opt
out. I will give that a week to see what happens. If I get any
complaints, I will reconsider the "re-opt" option.

How I came up with my decision was putting myself in the shoes of a
subscriber. I know in the past when other ezines have asked me to re-opt
in for any reason, I get very annoyed that I have to go through the motion
again of re-subscribing. And many times don't, not because I don't enjoy
the ezine, but because I put a high price tag on my time and feel as though
it is a waste of my time when I have already given permission (as Janet pointed out).

Also when I read the sample verbiage that David provided from another
relaunched ezine, I felt as though the publisher was being very respectful
of me as a past subscriber with his/her intro statement. Ie., reminding
me I had subscribed in the past and that quality content would continue,
but also stating upfront how I could unsubscribe if I choose so.

Obviously, I am one person and others may have a different reaction. As
publishing is only a means for me to establish credibility with potential
prospects and promote my business and its services, I am not looking to
generate income from it. So I don't know if having a squeaky clean list
is as important to me (?). I am sure as it is, that I will get a
significant % of hard bounces which I can deal with.

Once again, thanks for all your wisdom. I am very grateful that this
group exists and you are all willing to share your knowledge.

Warmly,
Denise Corcoran
