Why lose out on this business? It may be frustrating for the
publisher, but no one said being a publisher was easy. Work with AOL on getting
listed on its "I'm not a spammer" list. It's definitely worth the effort.

The way I'm approaching this issue is to think of AOL as a wholesaler or distributor. In order to get my eZine in to people's inboxes I have to negotiate with them for access rights. I don't mind doing this - it actually doesn't take much effort on my part and hopefully produces a few new users.

I have banned groups of eMail users from mailing lists in the past - primarily the free webmail users. The reality in that situation was I was sending a .5MB file every month, which would have played havoc given a webmail address has a 4-5 month lifespan!

If a business decision is made to exclude certain groups of eMail users then I see no problem with that. However, if the decision is based on irrationality then that is a different matter.
