[epub] RE: Spam law aftermath?

There was a very good article on this (actually two articles so far) in the
AMA Marketing Magazine.

What I'm "getting" is that CA is going with an opt-in law - meaning that 
you (me) have to prove that our ezines are opt-in and that ANYONE can start
a lawsuit and it has to go through the courts - at a high price to us.

I do hope that a better law is enacted... that really gets the spammers, 
not those of use who have been publishing for many years with opt-in lists.

I'm thinking of sending my subscribers, egads of 5 ezines!, a reminder that
they opted-in and can opt - out using that infamous link on the bottom of
the page.  I don't have a way to just email the CA folks.

I do wish that those in power (is any Senator/Congressperson/Attorney
Generals) listening to this <g>?) get together "stuff" together, and pass a
law that doesn't limit those of us who are doing the right thing!  I know in
the state I live in, I've heard the Attorney General speak about elists, and
she really doesn't have a clue about ezines, and the way most of us have
been doing things.  I questioned her at a meeting, and her comments lead me
to believe that she just hasn't put together a full group of people "in the
know" - so that she can work on getting informed laws passed.
