[epub] Re: Spam filters
Hi,

I am responding to Maria, Mark and Valerie regarding requiring readers to
click to the website to finish an article. Partial original posts are below
my signature.

Since my ultimate goal is to get people to buy my downloadable products, I
have decided to follow the path of the Internet marketers who are making the
big bucks. They all do their newsletters in text only. However, I have found
that it works best to include the link to an online version of my newsletter
at the beginning of my text newsletter. Some people like the ability to
click to a new article from the table of contents so I provide that ability
in my online version. I have gotten good feedback from my readers on this
change.

I tried "forcing" my readers to click on a link to finish an article and
several people sent me notes saying they didn't like it. My webstats (and
sales) show that offering the text newsletter with the online link works
much better than without it.

Sending more than one communication each week increases the number of
unsubscribes. One highly successful Internet marketer told me he loses up to
5% of his subscribers when he does this. So if I don't have a compelling
offer or information that is urgent to distribute, I don't send out
additional mailings.

What do the rest of you do?

To your success,

<< I only read 1 of those I get requesting me to tap on an URL and I
don't do it every week I get it. However, I skim or read a majority of
the newsletters I receive where the whole ezine is in my Inbox. >>

>>Anyone else care to weigh in on that? It doesn't matter to me---I'm fine
with clicking on a URL if the reward looks promising enough. But maybe
others are less apt to. Definitely curious on this---I'm contemplating a
change in how we send out Grinning Planet...Thanks, Mark<<

>>I am currently toying with the idea of
sending them the ezine on the day of publication and
then a link to the ezine the next day explaining that
if they missed the ezine the day before because of
their spam filters, they can read the ezine online.
