[epub] Re: How do I get subscribers?
Hi Kelly (and others),

There are various ways to get subscribers. If you do ad swaps you are
encouraging your subscribers to sign up to other peoples lists which can often mean
they get too much other mail in addition to yours which can possibly lead to
them not reading your mail so carefully if at all.

I looked at your site and noticed that you don't have a tell-a-friend
script. This would allow site visitors to tell friends about your site which would
increase traffic. The script could also incorporate a check-box where people
could check the box to sign up for your list (making sure you send a
confirmation email to them as you MUST have a double-opt in process nowadays). The
tell-a-friend script would then send an email to the addresses the visitor
filled in with a link back to the page and perhaps an invitation to sign up to
the list.

Currently your sign-up box is down in the corner of the site. If you want
sign-ups you should consider having it in a more prominent position where it
will grab peoples attention. Work on increasing your traffic as well and that
should lead to more subscribers. Try some link exchanges as this will lead to
more traffic as well as getting your Page Rank increased so that when people
enter search terms relevant to your site you will be positioned higher in the
results.

My next peace of advice to you would be to try some good affiliate programs
that will give you some good income. I wouldn't recommend the 'marketing'
type programs that you're advertising right now as they only appeal to marketers
and not the general public. If your audience is marketers then you should
concentrate your efforts on general two tier programs. I would highly recommend
you own an 'entertainment' site such as a recipes or jokes site as these are
great for getting traffic which you can then send to your marketing site as
well as getting lots of visitors to look at your affiliate ads which will
result in more commissions.

This income will then give you the ability to grow your list by purchasing
'co-reg' subscribers. You can get single opt-in subscribers for about $0.02
but most of these will not confirm membership and those that do tend to not
stay on the list very long, not read the mail as they've signed up to too many
lists or simply just bounce ... so I wouldn't recommend single opt-in
subscribers for those reasons, aside from the fact that spam laws mean your
subscribers must be double opt-in. You can purchase these for between $0.12 and $0.15
each which might seem like a huge difference but they actually represent far
better value for money.

If you need help with web hosting, email list hosting, finding good
affiliate programs, purchasing co-reg's, building or acquiring a successful
entertainment site (they really are great for getting traffic/income for your other
sites) or anything else pertaining to a successful online venture then email me
at _phil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (mailto:phil@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) . The affiliate
programs that I would recommend can be found at _http://www.greatworldmedia.com_
