[epub] Upcoming Changes to EPUB

Hi Epub'ers,

This has been on my mind for a few weeks now, but wanted you to know that 
very soon I'll be changing this list to:

(1) PRIVATE membership only (meaning the list won't accept any new 
subscription request without a referral). Perhaps I'll put a fee on the 
front door. Don't know. You'll be grandfathered in so don't worry as this 
will remain a free resource for you for at least the rest of 2005.

(2) I also intend to take the public archives down and make them only 
private for your benefit. Truth be told, the ad revenue is not enough to 
make a difference plus I think many might post more if they knew their 
thoughts would not be made public.

(3) After those two changes are done (next week perhaps), I'm going to open 
the list up to be "un moderated." I'll still watch it closely, but will not 
moderate each comment. Posts will be sent in near real-time. Only those who 
are abusive will be removed.

(4) When all of that is done, I'm going to require participation or be 
gone. Might be fine to lurk in a public forum, but we have so much value 
locked up in the 1,000 members of this EPUB list that is sitting on the 
sidelines. I think we can all benefit from stirring the pot a little 
together. :-)  There are some top notch professionals on this list and this 
move is designed to encourage them to uncloak.

EPUB is for professionals who leverage email/ezine publishing to increase 
profits and advance their business.

Open to your thoughts privately or publicly about my proposed changes to EPUB.
