I disagree completely and I sell quite a bit of "real" product online ($200K a year) from my at home, 1 man business, which I never lead clients to believe as being anything but what it is.

Credibility depends primarily on your ethics and honesty, not "perceptions".

That is misrepresenting yourself to your potential clients. Anything "fake" does not enhance credibility in the least.

If you think so little of your clients that you are willing to misrepresent who you are to them then you are really not credible at all.

In no case will a lie, exaggeration, puffery or misrepresentation enhance one's credibility in the long run.
