I agree with the various comments on the different levels of responsibility for deliverability, so it's hard to answer Chris's original question about what's more important. I can say, however, that ease of use is a big factor for me. I am not talking about "non-techie" ease of use per se, but rather the ability for me as a single user to customize applications to my needs, solve my own problems, etc. That requires the ESP (or any ASP for that matter) to have GREAT documentation, an extensive and updated knowledge base/FAQs, etc. If I have to call someone to figure out the basic functions or solve common problems, forget it! I want the ability to call someone, but only for extraordinary problems. I am a one-woman shop and rely heavily on my ASPs to run my online business (selling online courses and tip sheets for writers at nonprofit groups, http://www.writing911.com). I currently use three different providers to run the various components of the site and if any went belly up overnight, I'd be in deep trouble. So in addition to providing me the info and tools I need to easily and quickly do what I need to do (including regularly backing up any data stored in the application), I also need to be convinced that the ASP is a stable company with a business strategy for long-term sustainability. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Kivi Leroux Miller, President Writing911.com "Fast help for people who need to write well at work" [Thread Prev][Thread Next][Thread] Thread Index |
