[epub] RE: New MI and UT email compliance laws, July 1st enacted

R these folks going nuts? Or what.  Don't answer that.  They're
jerks.  OK.  These jerks who create and then pass these laws, are
so much "tree" folks who only look at the present, what's in
their faces and not the whole truth.  They don't even bother to
look at the beautiful forest! Me, I'm part of that forest -
double opt in list, my full contact info on all my ezines.
Egads.  Why don't the parents just take care of their kids
computers and use a parental filter? Why should "I" as someone
who has a viable business and that business requires contact with
my audience, be driven nuts by them, instead?
 
I'm as annoyed as anyone about all the unwanted email I receive
daily  ?  400 or so??  

Personally, I'm not paying anyone a penny to scrub my list. I'll
put my ezine in a blog first ;) 

Wondering: 
Would it matter if our subscribers completed a form saying they
were over 18 years?
Would removing all folks with aol, yahoo, hotmail etc and only
having people on our list with domain names we can check work? (a
pain, I know, but would it work)?

I'm in the process of setting up a new hosting company for my
ezine, and I could easily have anyone who wants to subscribe to
the new list give me that info. 

Marketing Sherpa also had a good article on this.

I just wrote to my governor, who else should I be writing to.
This situation - a vendetta against business owners, has to stop.
