Thank-You Page Joint Ventures Revisited

I received a bunch of helpful feedback in response to the recent article on the joint venture that has propelled Ezine-Tips beyond 10,000 readers. If you missed that tip, it's available here.

The most common question was how to accomplish the thank-you page set-up from a technical standpoint. The easiest method would be to invest a few bucks in a script like Master Subscriber Pro, which allows you to easily manage multiple sign-ups with a simple checkbox form. Master Subscriber Pro is reviewed here.

Once you've got a script like Master Subscriber Pro set up, simply make all of the subscription forms on your site redirect to a central thank-you page. This thank-you page would then contain another subscription form with checkboxes for all of the other participating ezines.

The second common question was how to find other publishers with whom joint ventures could be implemented. Look for sites similar to your own by searching for them in search engines and directories. If they have an ezine similar to your own that doesn't necessary compete, they're a perfect candidate. If they don't have an ezine, you may be able to arrange a deal where they would offer free subscriptions to your ezine from their site. You may also find interested publishers through the various communities of email publishers that exist online.

The joint venture set up on the thank-you page of Ezine-Tips is a good example of five publications that compliment each other without necessarily competing. One ezine covers marketing resources, one marketing tips, one covers the customer relationship management field, one covers building online communities, and one offers tips on publishing an email publication. All interest Internet professionals without directly competing for mind share.

You may find that you have trouble identifying other publishers with whom a thank-you page joint venture would be worthwhile. This may be a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. True, you won't be able to reap the benefits of an arrangement like this, but you are also fortunate in the sense that you don't have much competition in the niche you've chosen. Is there an ideal ezine or two that would make great joint venture partners? If they don't exist, maybe you should create them.
