DoubleClick Partners With Backwire

In a move to help advertisers deliver targeted opt-in email advertising messages, DoubleClick Inc., a leading global Internet advertising solutions company, announced that it has partnered with Backwire.com, Inc., a leading email marketing company.

Under terms of the agreement, DoubleClick will exclusively sell sponsorship units for all of Backwire's opt-in email newsletters.

Backwire publishes free, personalized emails that help Internet users find and navigate the wealth of quality content on the Web. Backwire email publications cover 32 popular lifestyle interests such as Health & Fitness, Travel, Personal Finance, Food & Wine, Entertainment, Internet & Technology, etc. Backwire allows users to preview content at dozens of the top sites within a category and then use their email to surf the material catches their interest.

"By advertising in opt-in email newsletters, advertisers can more easily and efficiently target the right consumer at the right time with their messages," said John Ventura, vice president of market development at DoubleClick. "The addition of Backwire to the DoubleClick Network will provide our advertisers with an excellent opportunity to reach their prospects and customers through one of the leading email marketing companies."

Currently, Backwire is sending more than 35 million targeted email newsletters per month to more than 1.5 million subscribers. With this partnership, DoubleClick will enable its advertisers to buy sponsorship units across Backwire's 32 email newsletters.
